- Ease of availability and price are major factors in the culture of college drinking; currently in the United States, it is cheaper to get drunk on the weekend that to go to a movie.
- Teenagers that drink alcohol before the seventh grade have a high likelihood of having problems in school and being arrested at some point in high school; these youngsters are also at an extremely high risk of drug use.
- Individuals who are not alcohol dependent but who have experienced alcohol-related problems may be able to limit the amount they drink; if they have a problem staying within those limits, they may need to stop drinking altogether.
- Alcohol leaves the body of virtually everyone at a constant rate of about .015 percent of blood alcohol content (BAC) per hour; thus a person with a BAC of .015 would be totally sober in a hour while a person with a BAC of ten times that (.15) would require 10 hours to become completely sober.
